What We Are Up To
Wanted to let you in on some of the things that have been going on with us:
We're collaborating our Virtual Choir with Forge Ahead Arts, another Santa Clarita nonprofit group that Carolyn and I met through Creative Connection. They're doing a new avant-garde version of Dickens' Christmas Carol in downtown Newhall and have asked us to provide the music (choir) for it. I got an update recently that they might have to postpone it until next season, due to COVID restrictions preventing them from filming, but we're still moving forward with the choir to get it done. Recordings for the first song are due this weekend and more info can be found at www.missionopera.com/xmas1/
Our Aria Series collaboration with Ashley and Exploration Music Project has been lauched with my very silly and fun rendition of Papageno. If you haven't seen it, it's on our MO Facebook page. The next few singers are doing arias like "Song to the Moon" over a full moon reflection on lake, Snow Maiden in the snow up north, and Hamlet in a mausoleum. It's such a wonderful and fun project and I'm hopeful it will bring us a lot of viewership and new subscribers.
Menotti's double bill of "The Telephone" and "The Medium" is scheduled for February release. The first is a short 25 minute, 2-person show. I'm singing it with Madeline Stern (from Così and Schichhi). We've already done all of the audio with a few studio days and it sounds great. I'm working on my video portions this week. This will be finished by Christmas. On the 21st, Dan travels to the Carolinas to get audio for The Medium star, which we switched out Victoria Livengood for Janet Hopkins (also a Met star). That project will be filmed and edited in January for a due date of Feb 1st and a release date of sometime later in February.
