Katie Mandel has been singing with SCMC since 2005. Thanks to those old Disney storybook records, as a child she learned how to mimic Julie Andrews. Then from 7th grade on she received vocal training from her favorite school choir directors, also Jo Monteleone, Mitch Hanlon, and others. Her rich mezzo voice is featured at every SCMC Cab n' Cab fundraiser, as well as in local musical theatre shows such as Into the Woods at COC. She has a bachelors’ degree in theatre from Cal State Fullerton and has performed in scores of musicals. Especially fun was performing every summer for 10 years in a choir for the Hollywood Bowl orchestra with John Mauceri conducting. She also spent years in caroling quartets with handbells during the holiday season. She enthusiastically does vocal coaching for auditioners and performers, bringing her acting background into full use, and teaches piano.
