Richard Hughes

Tenor

Tenor Richard Hughes hails from the coal mining Rhondda Valley in South Wales. He has always loved singing and attributes that love to his Welsh genes. In his mid 30’s with the encouragement of his family and friends, he began studying under the tutelage of Philip Martyn at the Martyn School of Music. Dick has sung extensively with choral groups including several years with the Noteables. He currently sings with the Santa Clarita United Methodist Church Chancel Voices, directed by Dr. Joshua Wentz. A lifelong Rugby player, Dick confesses to an extensive repertoire of ribald rugby songs. His past roles include King Kaspar in Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors, and Buoso Donati in Gianni Schicchi.
