Sarah Bloxham

Oboe

Sarah Bloxham was an accomplished mezzo-soprano professional chorus singer. She sang in the Los Angeles Opera Chorus from 1986 to 2016, and with the Los Angeles Master Chorale. Her operatic roles include “The Cousin” in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, “Miss Todd” in Menotti’s The Old Maid and the Thief, “Florence” in Britten’s Albert Herring, “Il Principessa” in Puccini’s Suor Angelica, and the Third Lady in Mozart’s The Magic Flute. Since retiring from singing she has turned her focus to playing oboe. She is currently principal oboe in the Mission Orchestra of Santa Clarita and in Altadena’s Crown City Symphony. She also plays in concert bands around the Los Angeles area, including the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Band, and in a number of chamber ensembles.
