Roméo et Juliette is a five-act French grand opera by Charles Gounod. Based on Shakespeare's play, the story follows two star-crossed lovers from feuding families in Verona. Despite a secret marriage, a deadly duel leads to Roméo's exile and a tragic, fatal misunderstanding in the tomb
