Amahl and the Night Visitors

One of our very first traveling productions, Amahl and the Night Visitors has become a cherished part of Mission Opera’s touring repertoire. From November 22, 2025 through January 11, 2026, we will once again bring this timeless holiday favorite to multiple venues, sharing its story with communities across Southern California.

The opera tells the tale of Amahl, a poor shepherd boy, and his widowed mother, whose lives are forever changed by a mysterious visit. Three kings, following a brilliant star across the night sky, stop to rest on their long journey to see the newborn Jesus. Through humor, wonder, and deeply moving moments, the story reminds us of the power of generosity, faith, and the miracles that can emerge in unexpected places
