One of our very first traveling productions, Amahl and the Night Visitors has become a cherished part of Mission Opera’s touring repertoire. We continue to bring this heartfelt story to multiple venues each season, sharing its timeless message with new audiences year after year.
The opera tells the tale of a poor shepherd boy, Amahl, and his widowed mother, whose lives are forever changed by an extraordinary visit. Three kings, following a brilliant star across the night sky, stop to rest on their long journey to see the newborn Jesus. Through humor, wonder, and deeply moving moments, the story reminds us of the power of generosity, faith, and the miracles that can emerge in unexpected places.
